Get high at the Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, an annual event in Kuala Lumpur that really makes you sit up and take notice. A great way to snap some great travel photos, it takes place near the Putrajaya Lake and is reminiscent of New York’s Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival. Expect to see lots of colourful, teardrop-shaped balloons but there are also some outrageous, quirkily-shaped ones. Previous participating hot air balloons have included one shaped like Darth Vader’s head, a cat, Doraemon, a clown, a pink elephant’s head and even one shaped like a giant peacock.

The total length of the bridge is 24 km (15 mi) with length over water at 16.9 km (10.5 mi), making it the longest bridge in Malaysia and the longest in Southeast Asia.

After the calamity of the Big Flood of 1926, when the original palace, Istana Sri Sayong, was almost swept away, a decision was made to built a new palace that is on higher ground. Istana Kenangan was built as a temporary mausoleum for the late Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Iskandar Shah (Marhum Kadasallah), while awaiting the completion of Istana Iskandariah nearby.
